Meet Kenisha
I am Kenisha Gordon, member of the Kingston/Greenwood Community Health Board. I have been a volunteer member with Nova Scotia Health since January 2021 when I became an official member of the Western Kings Community Health Board.
I am Diversity Specialist at the Municipality of the County of Kings.
I have a professional background in Municipal Government, education and women’s empowerment strategies. These skills have all exposed me to social inequalities, systematic barriers and other challenges that hinder sustainable community development. They have also kept me close to community and the limitless possibilities that abound to address social injustices, life-changing community based projects that are designed to eliminate poverty, improve mental health, foster inclusion, promote equity and building lasting partnership to enhance community health and wellness when volunteers get together. These issues are all closely related CHBs. In fact, these issues inspire me to be most interested in the community connection priority of my CHB. It warms my heart to see communities including Black, Indigenous, women, disabled, youth, elders, S2LGBTQ+ and people of colour who have been historically marginalized, benefiting from Wellness Fund Grants to chart the path to healthier, happier, safer and inclusive communities.
I am thankful to our CHB Coordinator, Chair and members whom I have had the pleasure of serving with.
