Meet Heather

My name is Heather Morse, and I am Chair of the Western Kings Community Health Board.

I have spent my entire career in the field of education - physical education teacher, physical education and health curriculum supervisor, principal, health and wellness consultant and consultant for Mount St. Vincent University working with students, teachers and principals in Belize, Central America.

I thoroughly enjoy my role as a volunteer with the Western Kings Community Health Board.

I particularly appreciate being able to work within community working towards creating valuable partnerships. There are many wonderful opportunities to engage and empower individuals and groups of all ages who want to partner with health boards. I especially enjoy working on special projects, knowing that our Community Health Board Coordinators are always there to support us in many ways.

I am very interested in all four of our Community Health Board Priorities, but I am especially interested and involved with Food Security. As a teacher and principal for a number of years, I was and still am concerned about access to healthy food choices in Nova Scotia schools, as well as access to locally produced foods for school meal programs. I have and will continue to work to involve community partners to advocate for investments that benefit all students equitably, such as a National School Food Program. I am also excited to work with community groups and programs to advocate for social policies that address income and therefore address poverty and food insecurity.
