Volunteering with a Community Health Board

Role Description and Responsibilities

CHBs advocate for actions to promote and improve health and wellness based on what communities say is most important. Guided by their Community Health Plans, they develop partnerships with local community groups and they award Wellness Fund grants to local community projects.

ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS

Under the Health Authorities Ministerial Regulations made under section 79 of the Health Authorities Act:

“No person shall be permitted to be a member of a CHB board who (a) is an employee of the provincial health authority, the IWK Health Centre or the Department of Health and Wellness; or (b) holds privileges with the provincial health authority or the IWK Health Centre.”
